Activated carbon processing machinery is a key device used to transform raw materials (such as coal, wood, fruit shells, etc.) into activated carbon with strong adsorption functions through processes like drying, carbonization, and activation. The following are some of the main activated carbon processing machinery and their features:


I. Main types of processing machinery

Crusher


Function: To crush raw materials into particle sizes suitable for subsequent processing.


Types: Hammer crushers, etc. They achieve crushing effects by the impact, shearing and tearing of materials through high-speed rotating hammer heads.


Dryer


Function: Remove moisture from raw materials to provide dry raw materials for subsequent carbonization and activation processes.


Features: Usually, air-drying or hot air drying methods are adopted to ensure uniform drying of raw materials.


Carbonization furnace


Function: Carbonize the raw materials at high temperatures to remove volatile matter and increase the carbon content.


Features: The carbonization temperature and time must be strictly controlled to ensure the carbonization effect.


Activation furnace


Shaft furnace: Composed of several simple vertical combustion chambers, the chamber walls are lined with refractory bricks, which can control the direction, speed and temperature of the gas flow inside the furnace.


Converter: Horizontal activation furnace, capable of controlling the activation speed, suitable for large-scale production.


Fluidized bed furnace (boiling bed furnace) : Solid particles are blown into a suspended state by the fluid, and the heat and mass transfer rates between gas and solid are fast, but the particle wear is large.


The Slipper furnace (saddle furnace) : The activation gas is alternately activated by steam and flue gas. It has the advantages of continuous production, high output and high quality, but it has high requirements for raw materials, high cost and high technical requirements.


The braising furnace: The activated gas is high-temperature flue gas produced by coal combustion. It has the characteristics of simplicity and low investment, but it consumes a lot of fuel and the activation is uneven.


Earth rake furnace: The simplest type of furnace, but with low yield and poor quality.


Multi-tube furnace: The activation gas is steam, it does not require fuel, is stable, easy to control, and has a large output. However, the activation is uneven and the quality of the carbon is not high.


Function: Activate the carbonized material through physical or chemical methods (such as water vapor, carbon dioxide, etc.) to increase porosity, enhance specific surface area and adsorption performance.


Type:


Cooler


Function: To cool the activated carbon after activation, facilitating subsequent processing and storage.


Features: Dust explosion prevention is required, and inert gas protection is usually adopted.


Screening machine


Function: To screen activated carbon and obtain products of different particle sizes.


Features: It is necessary to ensure the screening effect and prevent impurities from being mixed into the packaging.


Packaging machine


Function: To package the sieved activated carbon for convenient transportation and storage.


Features: It is necessary to ensure the quality of packaging and prevent the activated carbon from getting damp or contaminated.
